Ebay Forces PayPal Down Customers' Throat -- Public Responds With Two Antitrust Lawsuits

 

EBay, parent company of Paypal Inc., is facing two antitrust lawsuits filed in California. The suits, which deal with eBay's practices regarding its online payment service, were filed in April and will be heard by the same judge that presided over the 2002 class-action lawsuit filed against Paypal Inc. In 2004,Paypal reached a settlement out-of-court while admitting no wrongdoing. Despite the court settlement, PayPal's business practices still remain suspect to this day....

Ebay says offer Paypal or go!

 

As written by eBay...

 

"Buyers are more confident and likely to buy on eBay, and sellers more likely to see their listings convert into sales, when PayPal is offered as a payment method. It also means we can provide protection for buyers should things go wrong. We’d now like to update you on a number of changes we’re making that will make it safer and easier to buy and sell on eBay.co.uk.

 

Offering PayPal as a payment method

 

Currently, PayPal is offered on about 95% of listings on eBay.co.uk. Starting in late April 2008, we will require all sellers on eBay.co.uk to offer PayPal on their listings"...

BIG PROBLEMS AT EBAY - READ BEFORE THEY DELETE

 

Re: Your eBay Account Has Been Placed On-hold: Action Required
 
Dear eBay Collections:
 
Thank you for your email (below). As eBay is aware, I have made over 32 (thirty-two) communication attempts, since December 4th. 2006, with regard to questions about, and errors on, the 16 page invoice you have issued me. My concerns include double billing, billing for no-pays and bills for unlisted auctions.
 
My eBay communication attempts have included;
  • 5 (five) live help sessions (documented);
  • 2 (two) Certified Letters (return Receipt) to your Carol Springs address (documented, and, no response from eBay);
  • 25 (twenty Five) emails (documented), from which I received 22 completely worthless, irrelevant, generic, computer generated responses, and three emails which basically admit that eBay has no customer service department anymore.

 

EBay's Great Leader, Mr. Cobb, has made the astoundingly clever decisions to:
  •  Disconnect ALL eBay telephones;
  •  CLOSE Customer Service;
  •  Install Computer generated response (key word) on 'Live Help'.
  •  Eliminate all responses to Postal Mail Inquiries. 
"Live Help" is a 20 to 30 minute wait resulting in some typing "we don't handle billing." AND, now your Great Leader Cobb, has emplaced a 15% rate hike ... to help cover the cost of discontinuing all eBay service.
 
At least 157 years ago, in 1850, a person using a Telegraph could have semblance of a conversation. Not anymore with eBay.  You "Pay What They Say, or You Go Away"
 
EBay Billing  places no value upon my eBay record;,
 
I am (was) a Ten year, 1,725 consecutive transaction, 100% positive feedback, never a complaint,  never late on any eBay payment (I have ALWAYS paid EVERY eBay bill on time or early, NO EXCEPTIONS).
 
Now, in light of the above information, reread eBay's email to me, (below), and draw your own conclusion here, as to who is the Incompetent party here, myself or eBay's Mr. Cobb?
 
A complete shakeup of eBay upper Management would seem to be overdue, beginning with the immediate replacement of Cobb.
